1. Leadership Evolution at McKinley

We are thrilled to announce Chad Hodges’ promotion to President of McKinley Building Corporation. This milestone marks the culmination of a carefully executed leadership evolution strategy, ensuring seamless continuity for our company as we navigate new growth opportunities. Chad’s visionary approach and steadfast commitment to our core values make him the ideal leader to guide us forward. Meanwhile, Ken Dull, our Founder, will remain actively involved as Chairman of the Board, lending his invaluable experience and over three decades of dedication to the Wilmington community.

2. Completion of Kesseböhmer USA Headquarters

Our team successfully completed the new 93,000 SF Kesseböhmer USA North American headquarters along the U.S. 421 corridor. Designed to function as both an office and a warehouse/distribution hub, this facility underscores our commitment to delivering spaces that drive regional economic growth. Over the past year, our collaborative efforts ensured that the client’s vision was brought to life. The headquarters is expected to bring substantial employment opportunities and further strengthen the economic fabric of the area.

3. Harrelson Center Renovation for the Community Justice Center (CJC)

We were privileged to contribute to an impactful project at The Harrelson Center, where we renovated the fourth floor to create an integrated office environment for the Community Justice Center. Supported by a grant from the New Hanover County Community Endowment, the project seamlessly merged multiple suites into a cohesive, functional space. This thoughtful design enhances collaboration and provides a welcoming environment for the CJC’s vital mission of supporting those seeking justice in the community.

4. O2 Fitness Club at Leland Town Center

Construction is underway on the state-of-the-art 36,000 SF O2 Fitness Club, located in the bustling Leland Town Center. This facility is designed to meet the evolving fitness needs of the community, featuring modern locker rooms, a dedicated kids’ fitness area, and cutting-edge exercise equipment. We are excited to collaborate with Wilson | Blount Development and C&S Commercial Properties on this project, which is set to redefine fitness experiences in Leland.

5. Wilmington Trade Center Expansion

Significant progress has been made at the Wilmington Trade Center, with tilt-wall panels erected for the third building—a 100,000 SF Class A industrial facility. Designed with a 32-foot clear height and an ESFR Fire Suppression System, the building is on track for completion in Q1 2025. Infrastructure work begins in December, including road construction, utility installations, and stormwater management, unlocking 187 acres of prime development land within the master-planned 3.3 million SF industrial park. Permitting for future buildings is also in progress, signaling continued growth.

6. Salvation Army Center of Hope

Construction on the Salvation Army Center of Hope in Wilmington is advancing steadily toward an early 2025 completion. Key milestones include the installation of pre-fabricated shower assemblies, masonry work, and the completion of plumbing and electrical inspections. Upcoming phases include paving, interior insulation, and drywall installation, keeping the project on schedule. This facility will provide critical resources to those in need, furthering our commitment to supporting the community.

7. Manheim Auto Auction Facility

In just eight months, McKinley Building Corporation delivered a 15,000 SF metal building for Manheim Auto Auction on a 54-acre site in Rocky Point. This facility, built ahead of schedule, is designed to accommodate high-volume traffic and handle up to 60,000 vehicle auctions annually. Our use of 100% local subcontractors exemplifies our commitment to fostering regional economic development while maintaining exceptional quality and efficiency.

8. Growing Our Team

This year, we expanded our talented workforce by welcoming Kris Tucker as Project Manager and Stephen Birtz as Superintendent. Kris brings six years of experience in managing complex commercial projects, while Stephen’s expertise in tilt-wall construction and logistics enhances our on-site operations. A decorated U.S. Army veteran, Stephen adds leadership skills and operational expertise to our team. These additions ensure McKinley’s ability to deliver high-quality projects as we continue to grow.

9. Awarded: Coastal Horizons Administrative Office Project

We are honored to have been chosen for the Design + Build project for Coastal Horizons’ 20,000 SF administrative office. This Class A office space will support their essential services in substance abuse and crisis treatment across North Carolina. Partnering with industry leaders such as LS3P, Norris and Tunstall, and, Mihaly Land Design, we are poised to deliver a facility that reflects Coastal Horizons’ commitment to the community. Construction is set to begin in Q3 2025.

10. Pioneering the Future with Design + Build
