The Spirit of the Season
As we celebrate the season of giving this Christmas, we reflect on the values that guide us—Faith and Family, Integrity, Relationships, Service to Others, and Teamwork. These principles inspire our work and commitment to uplifting the community. This year, we’ve been blessed to partner with several outstanding local non-profits that share our mission of bringing hope and light to those in need.
Spotlight on Non-Profit Projects
The Community Justice Center Opens
One of the highlights of our year was the opportunity to revisit The Harrelson Center to complete a meaningful project for the Community Justice Center (CJC), funded by a grant from the New Hanover County Community Endowment. This renovation transformed the fourth floor of the Harrelson Center, uniting multiple office suites into a functional and cohesive space. Thoughtful design modifications tailored to the center’s mission ensure collaboration and support for those seeking justice.
The CJC, founded in 2024 by longtime DA and local hero Ben David, is dedicated to empowering victims to live free from violence and abuse while holding offenders accountable. By centralizing services for crime victims, this center plays a critical role in providing justice and support in one accessible location. We are deeply honored to have contributed to creating this safe haven for trauma survivors.
Special thanks to our partners, including the District Attorney’s Office, Wilmington Police Department, New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, and others, who helped bring this project to life.
Construction Progress on the SECU Hope Center for One Place
We are thrilled to share updates on the SECU Hope Center, a 38,000-square-foot facility under construction in Jacksonville, North Carolina. This project represents a monumental step for One Place, a non-profit dedicated to supporting children and families in Onslow County.
For over 25 years, One Place has provided essential resources and programs to address challenges such as child abuse prevention, high-quality childcare, and family support. The SECU Hope Center will serve as a permanent hub for these services, allowing One Place to expand its reach and meet the growing needs of Onslow County’s families.
This state-of-the-art facility is a beacon of hope, and we are honored to partner with One Place to bring their vision to life. Together, we are ensuring brighter futures for generations to come.
Nearing Completion of the Salvation Army Center of Hope Shelter
Construction on the Salvation Army Center of Hope shelter is nearing completion. This transformative 20,500-square-foot facility, set on a 22-acre site, will serve as a vital resource for individuals and families in crisis.
With 75 beds and 7 private family suites, the shelter creates a welcoming environment for those seeking refuge. Previously, the community lacked sufficient housing options for families in need. Now, this facility will provide not just shelter but also renewal and opportunity.
Captain Morris of the Salvation Army shared, “We can do it much better with this new facility, housing 75 people, including families. Before, we didn’t have room for children or families, and we’re thrilled to have that added component.”
We are proud to contribute to a project that aligns with our values of Faith and Family, Service to Others, and Teamwork. Together with the Salvation Army and other partners, we are building more than a structure—we are building a legacy of hope.

Whether it’s through event sponsorships, contributions, or participation in initiatives like the Cape Fear Heart Walk or Habitat for Humanity CEO Build Day, we’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute and partner with these impactful groups.
We encourage you to support these and other organizations making a difference in our community. If you’d like to learn more about how to get involved, please reach out—we’d love to connect.
