Building the Next Generation

This summer marks an exciting milestone for McKinley Building Corporation as we welcome the first internship class in our company’s 34-year history.

Avery, Drew, and McKinley joined our team for the summer to gain firsthand exposure to the commercial construction industry. Throughout the program, they will spend time with project managers, superintendents, estimators, and business development professionals to better understand how projects move from an idea on paper to a completed building that serves our community.

While the internship provides valuable hands-on experience in construction, the program was intentionally designed to be about much more than building projects.

At McKinley, we believe that success is built on relationships, integrity, teamwork, and service to others. Throughout the summer, our leadership team is committed to sharing not only technical knowledge, but also the values and lessons that have guided our company for more than three decades.

“Construction is what we do, but developing people is who we are,” said McKinley President Chad Hodges. “We want Avery, Drew, and McKinley to learn how buildings get built, but we also want them to learn how to lead, how to serve others, how to communicate, and how to carry themselves with integrity. If they leave here with a stronger foundation for life than when they arrived, we’ll consider the program a success.”

The interns will gain exposure to every aspect of our business, from preconstruction and estimating to field operations and project management. Along the way, they will have opportunities to learn from experienced professionals whose careers have been built on hard work, humility, and a commitment to doing the right thing.

As McKinley continues to grow, we recognize that every generation has a responsibility to invest in the next. We are grateful for the opportunity to mentor these young men and help them explore their future career paths.
